a few more pictures from Friday

We had lunch on the beach. Here's the restaurant staff--hard at work. This is the typical vibe of restaurant workers in Thailand. They were a lot of fun though and gave us a lot of travel advice.
Walking on the beach near the Kite Surfing school.

Riding the Saung Tao, which is a green truck with seats in the back. It's one of the best ways to get around here.

Hua Hin International Film Festival

This weekend was the first Hua Hin International Film Festival. On Friday, there was an opening ceremony on the beach in front of the Intercontinental Hotel. All of the directors, producers and movie stars who are in town for the festival walked on the red carpet into the ceremony. My friends and I went to the red carpet to see if we could see anyone famous. Some of the press didn't show up so we ended up being allowed to sit in the press seats, which were bleachers right above the ocean.

Thai movie stars
The best part of the day was that my favorite movie star, Ryan Gosling, was there.

The ceremony was all in Thai, so it was actually pretty boring but it was cool to see Ryan Gosling. He's in Thailand right now shooting his next movie in Bangkok.
Later that night, Webster students got free tickets to see one of the films showing at the festival. We also got free popcorn and soda, which was even better than the actual movie. After the movie, all of the actors from the movie came out and answered questions and took pictures with us.

Thaitanium

Some of the Thai girls from Webster took my friends and I to a Thai Hip-Hop concert on Thursday. It was funny to see the similarities between American and Thai hip hop. The band was called Thaitanium.

One of my favorite streets. The lanterns look beautiful blowing in the wind.

Thailand is a good place to be a dog.
